Reelmonk is an online movie distribution platform offering primarily Malayalam films aimed at the non-residential Indian audience.
Reelmonk launched on July 20, 2015. It was created by Xincoz Labs and was founded by three 22-year-olds from Kochi: Vivek Paul, who is COO, Gautham Vyas, and Blaise Crowly, CEO of Xincoz. The service aims to release approximately 15 films per month, of which some are available the same day as they are released in India.[1][2][3][4][5][6] Reelmonk is intended as a legal alternative to piracy and reports pirates to authorities.[4][6][7]
Ottaal, directed by Jayaraj and later the winner of multiple awards, was released online through Reelmonk on the same day it opened, making it the first film in India to release simultaneously in theatres and online.[8]
