Remigijus Šimašius (born 12 January 1974 in Tauragė) is a Lithuanian jurist and politician, member of Seimas (2012-2016), Minister of Justice (2008-2012), Mayor of Vilnius since 2015.[1]

Education

In 1997 graduated from Vilnius University, Faculty of Law, with a lawyer’s diploma. In 2002 defended a doctoral dissertation on Legal Pluralism at the Department of Philosophy of Law of the Faculty of Law of the Lithuanian University of Law and obtained the degree of Doctor of Philosophy.

From 2006 to 2008 he was the President of the Lithuanian Free Market Institute. From 9 December 2008 to 13 December 2012 he was the Minister of Justice of the 15th Government headed by Andrius Kubilius.
