Republic 100.3 is a local radio station, based in Pylaia, Thessaloniki, Greece that specializes in sophisticated and eclectic music programmed by its radio presenters & disc jockeys. The station was originally launched in 1995 as Planet 100.3 and in 2005, took its current name as Republic Radio 100.3 FM.
History
Republic Radio was founded in 2005 by a group of people that loved freedom and democracy in music, independent speaking on air and finally that wanted to bring a genre of music that Thessaloniki city was missing. Republic 100.3 is a purely music radio station focusing on sophisticated and eclectic style of sounds. It is also one of the three sophisticated Greek Radios that broadcast their program on FMs at this moment (the other two radios are in the Capital city, Athens). Republic is part of a media group named Metromedia. The radio, has also a big fan base out of Thessaloniki city with listeners through the internet.
Genres
Republic Radio plays Indie, Alternative, Jazz, Blues, Soul, Funk, Psy Rock, Electronica, Pop, Trip Hop and occasionally Greek productions that fit its style. It cooperates with all the major European and international Labels and loves to discover new projects and artists. Charities, actions against stray animals, festivals, live interviews, gig sponsorships and parties are some of the activities that the radio does. Republic radio, continues to broadcast its program with daily shows from 08:00 till 01:00, special DJ sets on weekends and one live radio show focused on swing-jazz-blues of 30's, 40's and 50's. The radio never changed its sound and music orientation since its start.
