Rhamphocephalus bucklandi | |
Rhamphocephalus ("beak head") is an extinct genus of pterosaur from the Middle Jurassic of England. Its wingspan was about 2 m (6 ft 8 in). Jaw and wing fragments of Bathonian age, Stonesfield Slate of Oxfordshire, England. Its features are considered to be transitional between the "rhamphorhynchoids" and pterodactyloids. Rhamphocephalus is something of a wastebasket taxon, with many indeterminate remains assigned to it, and almost no overlapping material.
