Rhinophis lineatus, or Striped earth snake, is a recently described fossorial species of snake in the Uropeltidae family. It is endemic to the arid north-western forests of Sri Lanka.
Description
Sharp snout is dark brown. Mental groove absent. Tail shield convex, rounded and rugose. Rostral with dorsal ridge. Throat is pink. Paired yellow para-vertebral stripe from occipital to beginning of tail. A black line with one scale wide, runs between the pale stripes. Rest of the body is yellow-cream. A large black spot can be seen in center of each scale on flanks and venter. Base of tail Is with two large black blotches in a yellow-cream area.
