Rhodoferax antarcticus is a psychrophilic, phototrophic, nonsulfur, highly motile bacterium from the genus Rhodoferax, which was isolated from an Antarctic microbial mat in Ross Island.[3][4] R. antarcticus is the first Betaproteobacteria to have its genome sequenced.[5]
