Rhys Edwards

Rhys Edwards is a Rugby Union Coach. In 2015 he coaches the Wales Women National Rugby Union Squad who compete in the 6 Nations Championship and IRB World Cup.[1]

Early life and education

Edwards attended Cardiff Metropolitan University,[2] where he played on the school rugby team.[3] He later played for Bedwas RFC.

Between 2007 and 2011, Edwards completed a MDip in Performance Analysis. In 2013 he studied toward an MSc in Sports Coaching.

Career

Edwards worked as a physical education teacher teacher at Caldicot School.[4] Rhys worked for the Cardiff Blues as Head Coach of their U16 Academy Pathway team. He was appointed Head Coach of Beddau in February 2010 ,and served until early 2013.[5]

Edwards was appointed as Attack Coach for the 2011 Six Nations campaign,[6][7][8] before being stepping in as Head Coach for the final two games.[9]

In 2014 he oversaw both the National 15s and 7s programme which rcompeted at 2013 FIRA-AER Championship in Brive & Marbella.[10]

In 2015 he was named head coach of the Wales Women rugby team.[11]
