Ribes watsonianum is a North American species of currant known by the common names spring gooseberry[2] and wild gooseberry. It is native to the eastern United States, primarily the Appalachian Mountains, from Massachusetts and the Adirondacks south as far as South Carolina and Tennessee.[3]
Ribes watsonianum is a shrub up to 150 cm (5 feet) tall, with cream-colored, pinkish or pale green pink flowers and dark blue or dark purple berries. Berries are pale purple and reportedly sweet and tasty.[4]
