Richard Boddington
Richard Boddington (born February 6, 1968) is a Canadian and English (dual citizenship) film director, writer, editor, cinematographer and television producer. Born in Yorkshire, UK, he now resides in Ontario, Canada.
Career
From 1995 – 2000, Boddington worked as a Producer at the CTV Network in Toronto.
His first feature film was Dark Reprieve (2008), for which Boddington was the producer, director, editor, and director of photography. He also self-financed his feature-length debut.[1] The story tells of two people who wake up in a closed down prison. They have no idea how they got there, or why they are there. In the prison they encounter several terrors as they look for an exit. The film is known for its twist ending.
Richard then directed, produced and edited the family comedy film, The Dogfather (2010).[1] Starring Chris Parnell, the plot centres around a Mafia dog who accidentally swallows his bosses ring. The dog is adopted by an unsuspecting family while the Mafia bosses' henchmen search for him.
In 2012, Boddington wrote, directed, edited and produced Against the Wild (2014), his third feature film. The film, which was shot entirely on location in Northern Ontario,[2] tells the story of two children and their Alaskan Malamute, who must fight for survival after their plane crashes in the wilderness. Featuring a number of animals, a decision was made to exclusively use real animals and no computer generated ones.[3] Against The Wild achieved world wide distribution and won such awards as the Director's Choice Grand Prize at the 2013 Rhode Island International Film Festival.[4] Against The Wild stars, Natasha Henstridge, CJ Adams, and Erin Pitt.
Richard was nominated for the Emmy Award for Against The Wild in October 2014.[5]
In May 2015 Boddington filmed, Against The Wild 2: Survive The Serengeti, in South Africa.[6] The movie is a sequel to Against The Wild and follows Alaskan Malamute, Chinook, on another adventure. This time Chinook must protect two children after their plane crashes in the African bush. The movie features extensive use of elephants, lions, giraffes, hyenas, and leopards. As well as showcasing the beauty of the African wilderness. Against The Wild 2 stars, Jeri Ryan, John Paul Ruttan, and Ella Ballentine. [7] [8]
Against The Wild 2: Survive The Serengeti, is being released into US theaters on February 26th, 2016. [9] [10]
