Richard Burmeister
Richard Burmeister (born 1860 in Hamburg, Germany, died 1944)[1][2] was a German-American composer and pianist active in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Burmeister studied with Franz Liszt before embarking on his own career of playing, teaching and composing.[2]
Burmeister was active in the musical scenes of Hamburg, Berlin, Dresden and Baltimore. Along with fellow composers Joseph Pache, Asger Hamerik, Fritz Finke and Otto Sutro, Burmeister played a sizeable role in the 1890s musical culture of the latter city.
