Richard Moon (born 6 September 1979) is an Australian ice hockey player who played for the Canberra Knights of the Australian Ice Hockey League from 2001 to 2011 and is a former member of the Australian national ice hockey team.
Playing career
Moon first played for the Canberra Knights of the Australian Ice Hockey League in 2001.[1] Following his first season with the Knights, Moon left the team before the start of the 2002 season. In 2004 Moon was re-signed by the Knights, where he competed in seven of the regular season games, scoring two goals and an assist.[1] The following season Moon competed in sixteen regular season games, the most he has competed in during a single season. He managed only two points for the season. Moon continued to compete for the Knights up until the end of the 2008 season, where he again left the team. In 2011 Moon returned to hockey after a two-year absence and re-signed again with the Knights for his seventh season. He competed in only four of the regular season games and conceded 18 penalties in minutes.[1]
Moon received his first and only callup to represent Australia in 2001, where he joined the national senior team to compete in the 2001 IIHF World Championship Division II Group A tournament being held in Majadahonda, Spain.[1] Australia finished third behind South Korea and Spain, while Moon managed to concede only 12 penalties in minutes during his five games at the tournament.[2]
