Richard Seton

Richard Bayley Seton (1798–1823) was the third of five children of William Seton and Elizabeth Bayley Seton. His mother became the first native-born citizen of the United States to be declared a saint of the Roman Catholic Church.

He and his older brother William both joined the US Navy after graduating college in Maryland. Richard died at sea while on tour with the USS Oswego, while along the coast of Liberia.[1]
