During his first season with the Falcons Sheahan played with Atlanta Thrashers 1st round pick Daultan Leveille. Sheahan collected 49 goals and 85 assists over two seasons with the Falcons.[3]

On October 29, 2012, Sheahan was stopped by Grand Rapids police after the car he was driving was spotted driving the wrong way on the road. He subsequently registered a blood alcohol concentration of .30 and was charged under Michigan's "super-drunk" DUI law.[7] Sheahan's blood alcohol level was nearly four times the legal limit and almost double the "super drunk" definition of .17 under Michigan law. Police stated that Sheahan was dressed in a purple Teletubby costume at the time of his arrest. The police initially believed they were dealing with Sheahan's Grand Rapids Griffins' teammate Brendan Smith, who was twenty-three years old at the time of the incident. Sheahan admitted to police that he was carrying Smith's drivers license to get into local bars.[8]
