The Ring Video Doorbell previously known as Doorbot is a doorbell replacement, created by Entrepreneur James Siminoff in 2012 that includes an infrared camera, and Wi-Fi connectivity. When the doorbell is pressed, the app begins a VOIP video call to connected smartphones, so that the owner can see and speak with whoever is at the door.[2][3][4][5]

The Ring app has integrated Lockitron support, so that the door may also be remotely unlocked when the doorbell is rung.[6][7]

The app for Ring doorbell currently available on iOS, Android, and Windows 10 Mobile.

Doorbot was crowdfunded via Christie Street, and raised $364k of the $250k requested.[8] [9]
