River Rouge School District is a public school district serving the entire city of River Rouge, Michigan. The district is the smallest public school district in terms of area in Metro Detroit and the second smallest in terms of enrollment after the neighboring Ecorse Public Schools in Ecorse. The district encompasses 1.77 sq mi (4.58 km2) of the city of River Rouge and has an enrollment of approximately 1,420 students in three schools.

River Rouge recently honored one of its own, Brent Darby, by dedicating and naming the basketball court after him. His jersey number (#24) was also retired and will be displayed in the Lofton C. Greene gymnasium. Darby was part of a winning varsity basketball team that brought pride to the Panthers. Many of his teammates, friends, family and teachers were present for this dedication. Brent Darby died in 2011.
