Roaming is a 2013 Canadian film written and directed by Michael Ray Fox and produced by Michael Melski, Richard MacQueen, and Craig Cameron. The film stars Rhys Bevan-John, Cory Bowles, Daniel Lillford, Martha Irving, Josh MacDonald, Sarah D. McCarthy, and Christina Cuffari. Roaming was the first film to be produced through Telefilm Canada's First Feature Program, a joint venture with Film & Creative Industries Nova Scotia that continued until the latter agency was disbanded in 2015. The success of the film's production intitated Telefilm to create the Micro Budget Program, which was broadened to accept submissions from all Canadian provinces for consideration.

Release

Roaming opened the 2013 Toronto Independent Film Festival after a small theatrical run exclusively in independent theatres throughout Canada's maritime provinces. The film later saw a wide release in the United States on iTunes, GooglePlay, Hulu, IndieFlix, and Vimeo OnDemand. Roaming also screened at the Atlantic Film Festival, Silver Wave Film Festival, and the Parrsboro Film Festival. The film was briefly available in Canada through Bell TV and Sasktel's VOD service in 2014. Roaming is distributed by All Channel Films, Galloping Films, and Multiple Media Entertainment.

Reception

Roaming was awarded Best Feature at the Toronto Independent Film Festival and lead actor Rhys Bevan-John received the ACTRA Maritimes Award for Outstanding Male Performance. Josh MacDonald was nominated for the same award for his performance in Roaming and Martha Irving's performance in the film earned her a nomination for Outstanding Female Performance.
