Roberson

Roberson is a surname and a variant of Robertson.[1] When surnames were introduced in English, there were many ways one could choose the new family name. One method, for instance, was to use an individual’s profession as a surname (e.g. a baker became “Baker” or a cooper became “Cooper”). Another common practice was to add “son” to the patriarch’s given name. Thus, the surname for the sons of Robert became robertson. Over the centuries, there have been many derivations of the Robertson surname - Roberson and Robason are two such derivatives.[2][3] The geographical origins of the surname Roberson is Scotland and northern England. Robertson is also a highland clan and also has many derivatives of the name which could give an origin to some of these derivatives[4] [5]
