Robert Allen (Ontario politician)
Robert Aloysius Allen (April 21, 1888 – after 1937) was an English-born politician in Ontario, Canada. He represented Riverdale in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1934 to 1937 as a Liberal.[1][2]
The son of William Allen and Mary Badger, he came to Canada in 1904. In 1919, Allen married the daughter of Randall McDonnell. Allen was president of Allen Drugs Ltd. He served on Toronto city council from 1927 to 1930 and in 1933. Allen ran unsuccessfully[2] for the Toronto East seat in the Canadian House of Commons in 1930 as a Liberal, losing to Conservative Edmond Baird Ryckman.[3]
His son William later served as Metro Toronto Chairman.
