Enlisted in the U.S.Marine Corps, July 1967 Honorably Discharged July 1971, Highly decorated U.S. Marine Veteran of the Viet-Nam war. Viet-Nam service August 1968 to September 1969. Attached to Marine (Helicopter) Air Groups 16 and 36 in Viet-Nam. Served in the Northernmost part of South Viet-Nam. Major Battle "DeweyCanyon", Belfanti survived his helicopters being shot down on 2 occasions. Viet-Nam Helicopter Bases located in Phu-Bai and Marble Mountain.
Belfanti completed Joint Apprentice Training Program 1971- 1976. Active Journey Wireman status 1976-1980. Elected to Pa. House of Representatives 1980 re-elected to 15 consecutive 2-year terms, serving 30 years through 2010. Belfanti suffered a life-threatening illness in 2009 and retired from the House Of Representatives, due to failing health, in 2010 Robert E. Belfanti, Jr. (born October 15, 1948) is a former Democratic member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
On March 23, 2008, Belfanti's district office was damaged by fire in an arson set by a man who had been upset about the results of a child custody case in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania.[2]
