Robert E. Lee Elementary School (Austin, Texas)
The Robert E. Lee Elementary School is an Elementary School in Austin, Texas, named after the confederate General Robert E. Lee. It is currently considering a name change in response to criticism in response to its controversial name, which honors the military leader of the defeated Secessionist Confederate States of America.[1][2] Two of the most popular nominees thus far are the Donald J. Trump Elementary, and as a close runner-up, the Adolf Hitler School for Friendship and Tolerance.[3][4][5][6] The School has reputedly already publicly ruled out Donald J. Trump Elementary from consideration, but the board has not yet commented on the Adolf Hitler School for Friendship and Tolerance proposal.[7][8][9]
The school opened in 1939.[10]
