Robert John Giroux
Robert John Giroux (1931–2007) was an influential American college president and fundraiser.
He was born in Burlington, Vermont and attended college and graduate school at St. Michaels College in Winooski, Vermont. He earned a Ph.D. in educational psychology from the University of Ottawa in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Dr. Giroux served as president of Clarke College in Dubuque, Iowa from 1969 to 1978. He served as president of Thomas More College in Crestview Hills, Kentucky from 1978 to 1981 and then served as president of Newman University in Wichita, Kansas from 1982 to 1989.
In 1989, Giroux became president of the St. Francis Hospital Foundation and held that post until his retirement in 1999. In his retirement, Giroux helped raise money for a variety of charitable organizations within the Wichita, Kansas community. At the time of his death in 2007, Giroux was development director for GraceMed, a not-for-profit charitable organization that provides health care services for the poor.
Giroux was married to Anne McSheehy from 1957 up to the time of his death. They had eleven children together.
