Robert Morrow (local politician)

Robert "Rob" Morrow (born 1964/5[1]) is an author and local Republican politician in Texas. In March 2016, Morrow was elected chair of the Travis County Republican Party, defeating incumbent James Dickey with 55 percent of the vote.[2] He received national media coverage for his offensive comments and his erratic behavior on social media.[3] Esquire magazine compared Morrow to then–Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump as reflecting the "rampaging id" of the party.[4] Morrow stated that he planned to use his position "as a bully platform to educate and inform the American public about the criminals and vipers who have run both the Republican and Democratic parties".[5] He remarked that he would out the sexuality of conservatives with a record of anti-gay activism, saying that he "love[s] exposing these sexual hypocrites in the Republican Party".[6] On March 8, a week after his election, a meeting of the Travis County party voted to disavow Morrow. Morrow responded, "I'm going to do what I'm going to do."[5]

Morrow was previously noted for his activism against Hillary Clinton, which included co-authoring a book with political consultant Roger Stone, The Clintons' War on Women.[7] In a 2008 article on Morrow, the St. Petersburg Times described him as "devot[ing] his life to hating the Clintons and spreading wild, unsubstantiated allegations about them".[1]

Morrow grew up in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and received a degree in history from Princeton University in 1987.[3]
