Roberto Carlos Alvarado Hernández (born September 7, 1998 in Irapuato, Guanajuato) is a Mexican professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Mexican side Celaya.[1] He is the youngest player to ever play in Ascenso MX.[2]
Playing career
Alvarado made his professional debut on September 25, 2013 in a Copa MX match against Estudiantes Tecos, coming on as a 59' substitute for Guillermo Clemens in a 1-0 win.[3] Three days later, he made his league debut, also against Estudiantes Tecos, in a 0-0 draw, coming on as a 86' substitute for René García. He was 15 years, 21 days of age.[4]
Alvarado scored his first professional goal in the 27th minute of a 1-0 Copa MX win over Atlas on February 18, 2014.[5]
He had trials with English Premier League teams Manchester United and Sunderland in November 2014,[6] and then again with Leicester City in January 2015.[4]
Personal life
Alvarado is nicknamed "El Piojo" (the louse) because of his idol, retired footballer Claudio "El Piojo" López.[2]
