Rochestown

Rochestown is primarily a residential suburb of Cork City, with several large housing developments such as Mount Oval having sprung up during the boom times. Rochestown (Catholic) parish is situated between Passage West and Douglas in County Cork, Ireland

The area is served by two schools: St Patrick's and Rochestown College. A Catholic church (St Patrick's) can be found close to Rochestown Rd.

An important trunk road passes through Rochestown, linking the area, as well as other villages in the lower harbour area, with Cork City. Rochestown Road also links Douglas village with the South Ring Road (N40).

A railway line connecting Cork City with the lower harbour area once passed through Rochestown. Nothing remains except the embankments and bridges, but these have been developed into a popular walking route, passing along the River Lee.

Local businesses include Rochestown Park Hotel, Rochestown Garage and a small "town centre" type development in Mount Oval.
