Rockingham Shopping Centre is a regional shopping centre located 47 kilometres (29 mi) south-southwest of Perth, Western Australia, in the suburb of Rockingham. First opened in 1971 and formerly known as "Rockingham City Shopping Centre" and "Rockingham Park Shopping Centre", it has expanded several times, and now has a floor area of 62,384 square metres (671,500 sq ft) and 215 tenants.

Since September 2007, a $190 million redevelopment of the centre resulted in the addition of a fresh food mall, a 500-seat food court, fashion mall (opened 1 December 2008) and an entertainment precinct with cafes and an 8-screen Ace Cinemas complex (opened 10 September 2009). It is anchored by Target and K-mart discount stores, and Coles and Woolworths supermarkets. Historically, it had an Aherns department store, but when the chain was purchased in 2000 by David Jones Limited, the store closed and was later developed by Best & Less.

Transport

The Rockingham bus station, which was located next to Rockingham Shopping Centre, closed in December 2007 as part of the Mandurah line development. All services now run from the new Rockingham railway station, approximately 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) away by road. High-frequency buses (routes 551, 552, 555, 920) operate between the centre and the train station along a dedicated busway near the Target exit on Council Avenue, whilst services to Mandurah, Port Kennedy and Secret Harbour operate from an exit on Read Street.

Redevelopment

In 2004, the shopping centre owners planned to begin a redevelopment. It included adding a second story to the centre, but the plan was rejected by Rockingham City Council. The plans were changed and a new development began in 2007. A 500-seat food court and new mall were added, as well as extending the Target mall and building the new "main street style" Syren Street. The development was completed in 2009.

So far, no new development plans have been released or submitted to the City of Rockingham.
