A flanker and lock, MacKenzie represented Manawhenua and Manawatu at a provincial level, and was a member of the New Zealand national side, the All Blacks, from 1934 to 1938. He played 35 matches for the All Blacks—three of which were as captain— including nine internationals.[1]
