The Roman Catholic Diocese of Kyiv-Zhytomyr (Latin: Dioecesis Kioviensis-Zytomeriensis) is a diocese of the Latin Rite of the Catholic Church in Ukraine. Petro Herkulan Malchuk is the current bishop of the diocese (with the personal title of Archbishop). He was appointed to the See of Kyiv-Zhytomyr in 2011.

History

The history of the diocese begins in 1925, when the diocese of Lutsk-Zhytomyr was split into the dioceses of Lutsk and Zhytomyr. In 1998, the diocese of Zhytomyr was renamed the diocese of Kyiv-Zhytomyr. In May 2002, a substantial portion of the diocese was split off to form the diocese of Kharkiv-Zaporizhia.

Geography

The diocese is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Lviv of the Latins.
