The Roman Catholic Diocese of Ostrava-Opava (Latin: Ostravien(sis)-Opavien(sis) ) is a diocese located in the cities of Ostrava and Opava in the Ecclesiastical province of Olomouc in the Czech Republic.
History
- Before 1978 the territory was part of the Diocese of Wroclaw which, for the most time, comprised all Silesia.
- 1978: The territory is part of the Archdiocese of Olomouc.
- May 30, 1996: Established as Diocese of Ostrava – Opava from the Archdiocese of Olomouc which remains the metropolitan for the region.
