Mission Sui Iuris of Funafuti
The Roman Catholic Missio(n) Sui Iuris of Funafuti is a Latin mission sui juris (pre-diocesan missionary jurisdiction) in Tuvalu, Polynesia.
It depends on the Roman missionary Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, yet is exceptionally not exempt but a suffragan of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Samoa-Apia.
Its only church is in Vaiaku, on Fongafale island in Tuvalu. The current Superior is Reynaldo B. Getalado, M. S. P., appointed in 2014.
History
The Diocese of Tarawa, Nauru and Funafuti was split on 10 September 1982 into the Diocese of Tarawa and Nauru and the Missio Sui iuris of Funafuti.
