Ron Jones (baseball)

Ronald Glen Jones (June 11, 1964 - June 4, 2006) was a promising baseball player for the Philadelphia Phillies during the late 1980s.

Born Ronald Glen Jones in Seguin, Texas, Jones went undrafted in 1984, but signed with the Phillies' farm system. His power at the plate and good defense eventually earned him a spot with the big league club. However, after four promising but limited seasons with the Phillies, Jones suffered two knee injuries which effectively ended his career.

Upon retirement, Jones began working as a hitting instructor and coach for high school youths, eventually forming the Big League Batting Academy in Houston, Texas alongside another former major leaguer, Charlie Hayes.
