Ron Rodecker (born 1930) is a retired educator, artist, and creator of Dragon Tales, a PBS cartoon about children who visit a world populated by friendly dragons.[1]
Dragon Tales
Rodecker came up with the idea of Dragon Tales while recovering from triple bypass surgery. He decided that he hadn't done anything meaningful with his talent, so he decided to create some dragons and he was able to get in to the Festival of Art in Laguna Beach. People from Columbia Tri-Star pictures liked what they saw, and invited him to Culver City to create a series based on his art work.[2] "That's how Dragon Tales was born," Rodecker said.
Personal life
Rodecker was an educator for 21 years and served for two years as an elementary school principal on Kwajalein in the Marshall Islands. Rodecker now lives in Laguna Beach, California, with his wife Katherine, who is also his quality control. He has two golden retrievers, named Tessa and Remington, along with his two cats Malcolm and Daphne. They are all models for his characters in Dragon Tales.[3]
