History

2010 - 2011

roseVeRte was founded by Chu-3 in 2010. They started as a dōjin circle of 2-3 persons. Their first game dUpLicitY ~Eternal Lie~ (デゥプリシティ~永遠の虚偽~ Dupurishiti ~ eien no kyogi ~), a sci-fi visual novel, was released on July 29, 2010 in Japanese for free. The official English translation was released on October 4, 2010. On July 1, 2011 an alternate storyline of the game was published in Japanese; dUpLicity ~Beyond the Lies~ (デゥプリシティ~嘘の先にあるもの~ Dupurishiti ~ uso no saki ni aru mono ~). This game was their first Japanese commercial release.

On October 4, 2011 they also released their first English commercial game; Café 0 ~The Drowned Mermaid~ (カフェ・ゼロ~溺れた人魚~ Kafe zero ~ oboreta ningyo ~), a supernatural mystery visual novel. Zeiva Inc helped to co-write and to beta test this game.[1] The game was later translated into Japanese and released on December 24, 2011. This version already included Japanese voice acting.

2012 - 2014

On January 12, 2012 roseVeRte re-released Café 0 ~The Drowned Mermaid~ in English with Japanese voice acting. Furthermore, the German translation was released on March 9, 2012 which also features Japanese voice acting. The German version was translated by Marcel Weyers.[2] The English version of dUpLicitY ~Beyond the Lies~ was released on March 20, 2012. The official German version of dUpLicitY ~Beyond the Lies~ by Marcel Weyers was released on June 19, 2013. SD Designs created the German images for the game.[3] On July 14, 2013 the Android version of dUpLicitY ~Beyond the Lies~ was released.[4]

On July 25, 2012 they released the English demo and the first path of their otome game East Tower (イーストタワー Īsutotawā), a mystery comedy visual novel, for iOS. On July 5, 2012 they released a Japanese demo of the game which can be played in the internet browser.[5] The English version of the second path was released on November 27, 2012; the Japanese version followed on November 30, 2012. The third path was released on May 14, 2013, both in English and Japanese. The Android version of East Tower was released on June 27, 2013.[6] On August 6, 2013 the Adobe Air based PC version of East Tower was released. The fourth and last path was on March 11, 2014 for Windows and Mac in English and Japanese; the mobile versions for iOS and Android followed on March 21, 2014. The prologue is free to play. The game received positive reception, with App-liv.jp saying that "the game is of such high quality that one would not think that it is an individual production."[7]

2015 - present

The otome game How To Take Off Your Mask (貴方の仮面の外し方 Anata no kamen no hazushi-kata) was released on June 7, 2015 in Japanese and on June 19, 2015 in English. It was hinted that a spin-off game title West Tower may be in production and they also plan a sequel to Café 0 ~The Drowned Mermaid~, which will be called Café 0 ~The Sleeping Beast~ and is expected for a release in 2016.[8]
