The Russian Federal Service for Intellectual Property, commonly known as Rospatent (Russian: Ð¤ÐµÐ´ÐµÑ€Ð°Ð»ÑŒÐ½Ð°Ñ ÑÐ»ÑƒÐ¶Ð±Ð° Ð¿Ð¾ Ð¸Ð½Ñ‚ÐµÐ»Ð»ÐµÐºÑ‚ÑƒÐ°Ð»ÑŒÐ½Ð¾Ð¹ ÑÐ¾Ð±ÑÑ‚Ð²ÐµÐ½Ð½Ð¾ÑÑ‚Ð¸, Federalnaya sluzhba po intellektualnoi sobstvennosti), is a Russian governmental agency in charge of intellectual property. Its former name was "Federal Service for Intellectual Property, Patents and Trademarks (Rospatent)".^[1]

In the former Soviet Union, Goskomizobretenie (Russian: Ð“Ð¾ÑÐºÐ¾Ð¼Ð¸Ð·Ð¾Ð±Ñ€ÐµÑ‚ÐµÐ½Ð¸Ð¹), which stood for Gosudarstvennyi komitet po delam izobretenie i otkrytii, was the State Committee for Inventions and Discoveries. It maintained a registry of inventions and discoveries and gave out authors certificates and patents.
