Roulé (translating to "rolled") is a French record label that was founded in 1995 by Thomas Bangalter of Daft Punk. There exists a sister label called Scratché, which has had only one release to date by the Buffalo Bunch (Paul de Homem-Christo and Romain Séo).

Label history

Musicians on the Roulé label included Romanthony, Stardust, Roy Davis, Jr., DJ Falcon, Alan Braxe, Together, and Thomas Bangalter's own material .

Roulé's fifth release, Stardust's "Music Sounds Better with You" single, reached number one in the dance charts in most European countries. Stardust members were Benjamin Diamond on vocals, Alan Braxe for music and Thomas Bangalter with production. It contains a sample of the Chaka Khan song "Fate".

Although the label has existed since 1995 and released several singles, it only ever released one album: Irréversible soundtrack. The possible reason for this would be that Bangalter uses Roulé as a periodical outlet for music, instead of an actual label. In an interview, he once stated:

Roulé’s never really been a “label.” It’s been more of an outlet where there’s a record every year or so. I’ve never made plans for it, and I never will. It’s just something that is there. I know for Guy-Manuel, Crydamoure is more of a label.[1]
