The rufous-capped thornbill (Chalcostigma ruficeps) is a species of hummingbird in the Trochilidae family. It is found in Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist montane forests and heavily degraded former forest.
