Rūjiena ( pronunciation ; Russian: Руен; German: Rujen; Estonian: Ruhja) is a town in Latvia, seat of the homonym municipality, in the former district of Valmiera. As of 2010 its population was of 3,377.[1]

Geography

The town is located in northern Latvia, near the borders with Estonia, in the historical region of Vidzeme (anciently part of Livonia). It is 50 km far from Valmiera, 91 from Pärnu and 152 from Riga.
