Rupasi Bangla (Bengal the beautiful or The Beauteous Bengal ) is a poetry book by Bengali poet Jibanananda Das. The book was written in 1934, and published posthumously in 1957 by Signet Press in Kolkata. The cover was designed by a fellow Bengali Satyajit Ray. The Rupasi Bangla (Beautiful Bengal) celebrated the beauty of the Bengali countryside. Though Das himself "withheld publishing" the collection, soon after the publication of Rupasi Bangla became an immediate favorite and was especially cherished by Bengali nationalists fighting in 1971 for Bangladeshi secession from Pakistan.[1]
