Ruth Buendia

Ruth Buendia is a Peruvian environmentalist. She belongs to the Asháninka people. From 2005 she served as president of the Central Ashaninka del Rio Ene (CARE, Asháninka Center of the Ene River). She was awarded the Goldman Environmental Prize in 2014, in particular for her efforts to halt the construction of the planned Pakitzapango hydroelectric dam,[1][2] which would have affected large parts of the Ene River valley.[3]
