Ryan Havern Hegarty (born May 16, 1990) is an American professional ice hockey defenseman. He is currently playing for Frisk Asker of the GET-ligaen (GET). Hegarty was originally drafted by the Anaheim Ducks, 113th overall, in the fourth round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

Playing career

After playing for the United States Men's National (NTDP) Under-17 and Under-18 teams from 2006-2008, Hegarty played NCAA Division 1 hockey for the University of Maine Black Bears of Hockey East from 2008-2012. After completing his college career at Maine, he signed with the AHL's Syracuse Crunch, a minor league affiliate of his draft team, the Anaheim Ducks. However he did not feature in any games for the Crunch.[1]

He was signed to an AHL contract with new Ducks affiliate, the Norfolk Admirals, on September 21, 2012. During the 2012-13 season, he was reassigned to Admirals ECHL affiliate the Fort Wayne Komets.

On July 30, 2013, Hegarty left as a free agent from his association with the Ducks and signed to a one-year contract with the Greenville Road Warriors of the ECHL.[2]

After two seasons with the Road Warriors, Hegarty decided to pursue a European career and secured a one-year contract with Norwegian club, Frisk Asker of the GET-ligaen on May 28, 2015.[3]
