Shiva Balak Misra

Prof Shiva Balak Misra (S.B. Misra) is an Indian geologist. He is credited with discovery of Fractofusus misrai a fossil discovered in June 1967 by him in Mistaken Point, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. The discovery was named after him in 2007.[1] After the discovery, Misra left his research career and returned to India, where he taught in colleges and universities, and opened a school in his native village, where he taught along with his wife.[1]

He has authored a book, "Dream Chasing, One Man's Remarkable, True Life Story."[2] He is chief-editor of Gaon Connection, an Indian rural newspaper, started in 2012, and based in village, Kunaura 160 km from Lucknow.[3][4]

Now in his 70's, he resides in Lucknow.[1]
