SABIS

SABIS is an educational business-oriented network that operates on four different continents around the world. It is serviced through three independent corporations headquartered in the U.S., Lebanon, and the U.A.E.. SABIS operates schools in 16 countries and educates almost 70,000 students.[1]

History

The origins of SABIS date back to 1886 when the International School of Choueifat was founded in the village of Choueifat, a suburb of Beirut, Lebanon by Tanios Saad and Louisa Proctor to provide education for Lebanese girls. Soon after opening the school, it became co-educational in response to market demand. Despite two world wars, the International School of Choueifat continued to grow over the years and embarked upon an expansion program outside Lebanon in the mid-1970s. The expansion was met with substantial success, which is currently reflected in the organization's global network consisting of Pre-School/K-12 schools and a university in 17 countries on several continents. The first school to open outside Lebanon was the International school of Choueifat in Sharjah, U.A.E.
