SOGO anniversary celebration, also known as Sogo thankful week in Hong Kong is a semiannual shopping sales event held by SOGO Hong Kong Co., Ltd. During the events most of the settled brands in SOGO department stores provide discounts and special sales packages in the anniversary celebration of the shopping mall.

Usually these two events are held on the first and second half of the year respectively.

History

SOGO Hong Kong

In Hong Kong there are two SOGO department stores, one in Causeway Bay and the other in Tsim Sha Tsui. Sogo Hong Kong CO., LTD in Causeway Bay was opened in 1985, while the other one in Tsim Sha Tsui commenced its operation in 2005. Both of them once belonged to Sogo Co., Ltd. (株式会社そごうKabushiki Kaisha Sogō), one of the largest Japanese department store chain,[1] but now taken over by Lifestyle International Holdings.SOGO is one of the major shopping landmarks for Hong Kong people and tourists. SOGO is characterized by the “one-stop shop”, “shop-in-shop”, “Japanese style” and “customer oriented” concepts, which offer quality goods and services, customer convenience, and comfortable and pleasurable shopping environment.[2] The Causeway Bay store was built expansion in 1993, and now it is a building with 15 floors with wide range of products. In contrast, Sogo department store in Tsim Sha Tsui owns more designers.

Example

Every year herds of shoppers fight their ways to SOGO for the bargainous buys. Apparently, some products were discounted by up to 95%.[3]
