Several players from the B1 squad assaulted linesman Richard Nieuwenhuizen during the match. A couple of hours later he was then taken to the hospital not feeling well after the incident.[2] He was brought directly to the hospital by ambulance where he died due to his injuries.[3] Following this incident the KNVB cancelled all amateur matches for the 8th and 9 December.
