S.A. Chandrasekar is an Indian film director, producer and writer primarily works in Tamil films.[2] Chandrasekhar made his directorial debut with Sattam Oru Iruttarai (1981) and went on to direct social themed films.[3]
Personal life
Chandrasekhar is from Thangachimadam in Ramanathapuram district of Tamil Nadu. He is married to Shoba, a carnatic singer.[4] He is the father of Kollywood actor Vijay.[5] His son had debuted in his directorial Naalaya Theerpu.
Film career
Chandrasekar has directed over 70 movies in Tamil. Some of his hits include Vetri, Naan Sigappu Manithan, and Mutham. He also directed some Telugu movies such as Chattaniki Kallu Levu with Chiranjeevi. Most of his movies are with Vijayakanth. He has appeared in supporting roles in some movies like Naan Sivappu Manithan.[6] Director S. Shankar, one of the notable directors of India and M. Rajesh had worked with him as assistants.[7][8]
With Touring Talkies[9] (2015), he directed his 68th film which happened to bomb at the Box Office.
