Sadena Parks (born May 4, 1990) is an American professional golfer who plays on LPGA Tour.[1] She started golf at the age of 9 by influence of her father Washington Parks. Parks became the First African American to earn her Tour card through the Symetra Tour and just the fifth African American to earn an LPGA Tour card.

At the age of 9 she joined Classic Club, a club program for young golfers and her father also enrolled her in the Leisure Hour junior golf program in Portland. In her early school days she won the Washington State High School Championship and got runner-up place.[2]

Family and education

Sadena was born Raleigh in North Carolina and that time her parents divorced. She moved with her father to Washington and too contacted with her mother over a year. She completed school days in Bethel High School in Spanaway and spent four seasons at the University of Washington, United States of America for American Ethnic Studies.[3]

Parks began playing golf when she was at the age of 9 'cause her father played golf as a recreationally. Her father usually took her to play golf and he bought her starter set of club for few dollars. When she was in sixth grade, she began competitive golf with her father and other younger competitors in Portland, Oregon. She moved back Washington then Sadena Parks got free opportunity to play golf in Classic Club near Tacoma.[4] She wanted to play more so she came in 11th in high school as a freshman. She did improved her self and won Title of school laterly.[5]

She completed four season at University of Washington and too played golf and improved herself. Her golfing career had caught the eye of Huskies coach Mary Lou Mulflur. Sadena also played U.S. Women's Open qualifier matches.[6]

She went to LPGA qualifying school and advanced to the Symetra Tour and made her international debut in 2013.[7] She too participated in reality TV Show and played matches 'The Big Break' for young players. In 2015 Parsons Xtreme Golf Club proudly signed its third official deal with one of the most promising name in women's golf Sadena Parks.

In 2014 she made history in SYMETRA Tour Championship in Daytona Beach, Florida becoming only a fifth Afro-American women to receive her "Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA)" tour card. In this tournament she placed among top 10 money winners who got opportunity to get full access to 2015 LPGA tournaments.[8]

Sadena Parks recently has joined another club as small for golfers to appears in ESPN annual's magazine 'Body Issue[11]'. Inside the magazine the 23-year-old Parks shares her aspirations and how her dad got her started in golf. How she has encountered as just the First Afro-American Tour card through the Symetra Tour and fifth Afro-American to earn a LPGA Tour card.[12] She posed for this magazine in latest edition where many athletes poses according to their game.
