Safaree "SB" Samuels (born July 4, 1981) an American rapper with a Jamaican background. His career started in the rap group Hoodstars. He gained fame as the hype man , producer and fiancé of past girlfriend, rapper Nicki Minaj. After the end of his relationship with Nicki Minaj, he began to focus on pursuing his musical passion via his "Stunt Gang" imprint and released a number of projects that were well received, to include his latest single "Can't Lie" ft Olaf that premiered via Billboard Magazine [January 2016].
Early life
He attended Midwood High School.[1] He is of Jamaican descent.[2]
Career
Samuels began rapping in a group with Nicki Minaj called The Hoodstars in the early 2000s.[3][4] He then began to date Minaj.[5][6][7][8][9][10] Samuels released a track directed towards his ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend Meek Mill called "Lifeline" in which he claims he was an unaccredited songwriter on The Pinkprint and responsible for songs on Pink Friday including "Roman's Revenge".[11]
Rumors of Samuels ghostwriting for Minaj's albums circulated when audiences mistook his interview with The Breakfast Club radio show in 2015. After saying he "helped her", Minaj came under heat. Samuels quickly took to Twitter to nullify these rumors, and claimed he did not help her, even praising Minaj for her writing skills. Shortly after, Samuels took his claims back to say that he did write for her. Rappers, including Kanye West and Rick Ross, that Minaj has worked with have said that she did indeed write her lyrics. Samuels has taken this case to court, and plans to sue Minaj for millions if everything comes in his favor.
Personal life
Samuels dated rapper Nicki Minaj for 12 years.[12] They broke up in August 2014. Following their break-up, Safaree and Nicki went back and forth on social media, with both artists sending subliminal tweets. He has then went on to date models Zashia Santiago, Sophia Body, and artist K. Michelle. [13]
