Saila Kariat is an American film director, producer, writer and electrical engineer of Indian descent. She will make her directorial debut with the upcoming drama film The Valley (2016).[1]

Life and career

Saila Kariat was born in the United States. She completed her M.S and PhD from Syracuse University in 1988 and 1990 and became an electrical engineer. She worked at IBM T.J. Watson Research Center from 1990 to 1996 where she won Outstanding Technical Achievement, Research Division and Third Plateau Invention Achievement awards.[2] She has also won Richard D. Parks Award for Outstanding Graduating Senior.[3]

Kariat later decided to follow her interest in filmmaking and in 2016 she announced her directorial debut The Valley (2016). The film is scheduled for release in June 2016.[4]
