He went to exile with Arafat during the 1970s.[3] He was a member of the Fateh Central Committee from August 1989 to August 2009, where he served as Fateh's general deputy of intellectual affairs presented by Yassir Arafat. He was also a writer, a poet and an artist. Therefore, Habash served as the movement's general deputy of intellectual affairs.[2]
