Salineiro is a village in the southern part of the island of Santiago, Cape Verde. It is situated 2 km nort of Cidade Velha and 12 km northwest of the capital Praia. It is part of the municipality of Ribeira Grande de Santiago. Its 2010 population was 1,113.

Salineiro is also located nearly southwest of João Varela, and northeast of Porto Gouveia.

Salineiro is the Portuguese name for salt marshes that exists in the area. Salineiro are connected with Caminho de Ribeira Grande de Santiago that starts in Cidade Velha and finishes at the São Domingos municipal boundary.

In the 1990s and the 2000s, the village nearly formed a square, parts of the built up area spreaded to the north, the southeast and the southwest in the early 2010s.

The Barragem de Salineiro (Salineiro Dam) first built in 2011 and finished on June 30, 2013, its location is approximately 1 kilometer north on Ribeira Grande de Santiago.[2] The dam goes roughly east to west but with a 10-15 degree angle facing north. It forms a small Salineiro Dam Reservoir, unlike reservoirs of the north of the island which is predominantly dry. Salineiro are the two predominantly dry reservoirs in Cape Verde the other being Canto de Cagarra which is in the north of Santo Antão Island on Ribeira da Garça.
