Sally Bedell Smith (born 1948) is an American historian and best selling author specializing in biographies of American political, cultural, and business leaders as well as members of the British Royal Family. She is married to Stephen G. Smith, formerly editor of U.S. News & World Report, now editor of The Washington Examiner.
Career
Sally Bedell Smith spent her early career working at Time magazine, TV Guide, and The New York Times. She won the Sigma Delta Chi Distinguished Service Award in 1982, and became a fellow at the Freedom Forum Media Studies Center in 1986. In 1996, Smith joined Vanity Fair as contributing editor, where she remains as of March 2013. She graduated from Radnor High School in 1966, and was inducted into the school's Hall of Fame in November 2008.[4] She received her B.A. from Wheaton College and her M.S. from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism [winner of the Robert Sherwood memorial Travel-Study Scholarship and the Women's Press Club of New York Award].
